As he played his last event on the Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada for 2015 at The Great Waterway Classic in Bath, Ontario, Eugene Wong had one thing on his mind - leaving.
Not that the winner of the 2012 version of the event dislikes playing professional golf in Canada, but at the time he knew his best chance to earn his way on to the Web.com Tour for 2016 was through PGA TOUR China.
That's where Wong was headed just over a week ago, to prepare for the second part of that tour's schedule. This first four events on the tour's schedule finished up at the end of May and solid play had left Wong, who grew up in North Vancouver, in 5th place on their Order of Merit. As with the Mackenzie Tour, where Wong sits in 34th place for money earned, the top five players at the end of the season earn status on the Web.com Tour.
