As we first speculated in a story appearing here on July 21, Brooke Henderson has been inked to an endorsement deal with Skechers Performance, a division of SKECHERS USA, Inc.
Henderson first made an appearance wearing the shoes during a sponsor outing in Calgary in July, eschewing her traditional use of FootJoy shoes, for which she was not contracted to wear.
Skechers says the deal is a multi-year one but the terms were not disclosed.
During a media conference Wednesday at Whistle Bear Golf Club where she is appearing to play in the Manulife LPGA Classic, the Smiths Falls golfer was asked about her new footwear choice.
“I’m very excited to be with Skechers. They have Matt Kuchar and (indiscernible) right now as ambassadors, and I think it’s really fun to be apart of. Right away, when I put them on, I loved them and I told Kevin (Hopkins of her agency, IMG) that I was never going to take them off. So I think it was a good sign right away and my whole family loves them as well.”
As a three-time LPGA TOUR winner, major champion, and #3 player in the world at the age of 18, Henderson has become a darling endorser for several brands (including PING, Titleist, RBC, BMW, SunIce, BIOSteel Sports, and Android) and Skechers staff are just as enthusiastic to be affiliated with this high profile, and rising, golf talent.
“We really love Brooke’s game, and her input is going to be so valuable,” said Skechers Performance Senior Vice President Merchandising/Marketing, Rick Higgins. “She’s just getting started, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with her.”
The deal sees Brooke wear Skechers Performance GO GOLF footwear, joining a growing number of other pros inked to do so. They include Matt Kuchar, Russell Knox, Colin Montgomerie, Billy Andrade, Belen Mozo, and Ashlan Ramsey.
