Callaway Golf has stretched out the MD3 wedge line to include new a Milled Gold Nickel Model.
The line extension is available in five lofts, 50*, 52*, 56*, 58*, 60* and each features an S-Grind. Unfortunately for many Canadians, they are just in right hand at this point.
The MD3 model is the work of legendary club designer Roger Cleveland who, as he often does, used the feedback of tour players to create the design. It features “Progressive Groove Optimization” so that spin is optimized for each loft of club to help the player achieve the intended shot.
“30V grooves in the Pitching and Gap Wedges are built for shots that require a steep angle into the ball. The 20V grooves in the sand wedges are designed for full shots and bunker shots, and we put in wider 5V grooves in the lob wedges for better control for shots out of the rough and around the green,” is the explanation from Callaway Golf in the three groove package.
As far as other physical characteristics they have a high toe profile, a medium sole width, and a semi-straight leading edge.
The new models now feature a gold nickel finish that many players find attractive for it’s lack of distraction and glare reduction. It also adds to the soft feel.
The use of the S-grind is to provide as much versatility as possible to cover a range of players.
They will be available at retail on July 1st.
