In 2016 FootJoy is taking a whole new approach to golf shoe fitting over size alone.
The company has teamed up with BodiTrak Sports, who developed the technology right here in Canada, to create the FootJoy Performance Fitting System.
Based on research with Canadian scientist Sasho Mackenzie and their own team, FootJoy has determined that golfers with different swings have different needs in footwear if they are to maximize clubhead speed. Golfers use the ground to create force and varying the type of shoe they use in concert with their swing style can enhance results. Tests included average golfers through to PGA TOUR players.
In response the company created a system that looks at the foot pressure trace of a golfer during their swing and categorizes what shoe category works best for them – either a stable or mobile model.
They unveiled the system to the golf industry at the PGA Merchandise Show in January and we had our Publisher, Jeff Bauder, jump in to try it out. Just a few swings later he had his answer!
The company will be rolling out the system to select accounts and through a mobile fitting program in 2016.
