Ile Bizard, Que. (Golf Canada) – Golf Canada and RBC announced Monday that The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Ile Bizard, Que. is officially confirmed to host the 2014 RBC Canadian Open, July 21-27, 2014.
Renowned as the oldest golf club in North America and the site of the inaugural Canadian Open in 1904, Royal Montreal will play host to Canada’s National Open Championship for a 10th time. The announcement marks the return of the RBC Canadian Open to Royal Montreal for the first time since 2001.
“In partnership with RBC, we are very pleased to confirm that the RBC Canadian Open will return to The Royal Montreal Golf Club in 2014,” said Golf Canada Executive Director and CEO Scott Simmons. “Royal Montreal shares a long and storied history with both Golf Canada and Canada’s National Open Championship dating back more than a century. We are thrilled to add to that special legacy again in 2014.”

One of the five founding clubs of the Royal Canadian Golf Association (now operating as Golf Canada), The Royal Montreal Golf Club most recently hosted The Presidents Cup in 2007. The Club previously hosted Canada’s National Open Championship in 1904, 1908, 1913, 1926, 1950, 1975, 1980, 1997 and 2001.

Pat Fletcher, the last Canadian to claim Canada’s National Open Championship in 1954, served as Head Professional at The Royal Montreal Golf Club from 1956 to 1975.
