Sharing 4th place with round to play, the potential was there for Augusta James to earn her second career win on the Symetra Tour on May 21.
Unfortunately a final round 74, marked by two double bogies, stalled her chances at the Gosling’s Dark ‘N Story Classic in Milton, Georgia.
While American Laura Wearn shot even par in the final round and earned a victory one year after she underwent back surgery, Canadian James would not gain any ground.
Ultimately, despite five birdies on the day, two doubles left her with a score of 74 to add to her opening 74 and 68, and a three round total of 216 (E). That garnered her a share of 11th place.
Despite the setback, it still gives her six top 12 finishes in seven starts on the circuit this year and keeps her in contention for a top ten position on the year-long Volvik Race To The Card and LPGA status for 2017.
