Augusta James has been having a stellar year on the Symetra Tour and the fruits of her labour are beginning to appear.
The Bath, Ontario golfer has rolled her win earlier in the season at the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial, and more subsequent great play, into a solid 4th place position on the money list for the developmental tour of the LPGA Tour. With a third of the season remaining is almost assures her a top ten finish on the Volvik Race for the Card and a place on the LPGA Tour in 2016 that comes with it.
As a result sponsors are beginning to line up with the former Canadian Women’s Amateur Champion and the first of what is expected to be a number of possible endorsement deals was revealed on Wednesday.
James will join seven other previously named brand ambassadors as part of “Team Freedom”, a group of young Canadian athletes representing the Freedom 55 Financial brand.
Augusta joins golfers Albin Choi, Matt Hill, Mackenzie Hughes, Taylor Pendrith, and Adam Svensson along with athletes Damian Warner and Jen Cotten on Team Freedom.
Mike Cunneen, Senior Vice-President, Freedom 55 Financial, said he’s excited to see James join Team Freedom. “I have followed Augusta’s career and have seen the unbelievable potential she displays both on and off the golf course,” Cunneen said. “Team Freedom is about providing a supportive presence as these athletes pursue their aspirations. The signing extends Freedom 55 Financial’s involvement in Canadian golf in a variety of initiatives. The company is a national sponsor of the Canadian Junior Golf Association’s Clinics for Kids program and is the title sponsor of the Freedom 55 Financial Championship in London, Ontario – the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada’s flagship event.
