Bath, Ontario’s Augusta James is in good position for another strong finish on the Symetra Tour.

James, currently in 13th place on the tour’s order of merit (the Volvik Race For The Card), is tied for third place heading into the final round of the Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship in Battle Creek, Michigan.

The former Canadian Women’s Amateur Champion started the event slowly, with a one-under par, 71, on Friday. She ramped up her game in round two on Saturday.

She completed the day with seven birdies and no bogies to post 65.

The 8 under par total (71-65) puts her one stroke off second place held by American Ally McDonald.

Unfortunately both players will need an epic Sunday if they are to catch the leader. Spaniard Laura Gonzalez Escallon has posted rounds of 65 and 64 and is at -15.

James’ fellow Canadian, Jennifer Ha of Alberta, is tied for 7th at -6.
