The Raintree Golf & Country Club seems to be a good fit for Bath, Ontario’s Augusta James.
In last year’s Symetra Classic hosted by the course, the Bath, Ontario native lost in a playoff after her three round total included scores of 66 and 67 with a 71 tucked in the middle.
This year the former NC State Wolfpack member started play in Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday with a 68, four under par.
The round has her one stroke off the leaf of Isa Gabsa of Germany.
She shares the second place position with four other players – Mindy Kim, Susy Benavides, Marissa Steen and Emma de Groot.
James’ 68 was a fairly clean one; she opened with a bogey and sprinkled in five birdies amongst pars for the rest of the day.
Fellow Canadians Sara-Maude Juneau and Megan Osland are one stroke back of James at -3 and share 7th place.
Heading into play this week Augusta James is in 8th place on the tour’s year-long money-list, the Volvik Race for the Card. The top ten finishers at the end of the season will earn LPGA status for 2017.
