Bath, Ontario’s Augusta James will play for pay.
The 21 year-old Team Canada member and current Senior at North Carolina State University has revealed her plans to her hometown newspaper.
The Kingston Whig Standard posted this story Monday evening where James explained her decision to forfeit her final semester at the school in favour of joining the Symetra Tour. She earned full status on that Tour, the secondary Tour to the LPGA TOUR, during her recent trip to the LPGA TOUR Final Stage Qualifying.
James is likely candidate for the Team Canada Young Pro program that could provide her with some support. The veteran Team Canada member (she joined the main team in 2012 and the Development Team the year prior) won the Canadian Amateur this past summer by a runaway margin.
We’ve arranged catch up with Augusta early in the new year as she clarifies her plans for the season.
The Symetra Tour begins play in February. The first event is late that month in Arizona.
