Following this week’s Web.com Tour event, the Nova Scotia Open, the 2nd annual RBC Canada Cup will take place.
On Monday, July 6th, Team Canada will face off against Team World and it was announced Thursday that the final member for the Canadian squad will be Manotick’s Ontario’s Brad Fritsch.
Fritsch will join Mike Weir, Graham DeLaet and David Hearn in head to head competition against a team that includes the legendary Tom Watson, Andres Gonzales, Colt Knost, and Erik Barnes.
The RBC Canada Cup will feature 18 holes of continuous play that will begin at 1:00 p.m. local time. Group 1 will feature Team Canada’s Graham DeLaet and David Hearn against Team World’s Andres Gonzales and Erik Barnes. In Group 2 action, Team Canada’s Mike Weir and Brad Fritsch take on Team World’s Tom Watson and Colt Knost at 1:15 p.m. local time.
Fritsch is coming off a strong run of play that has included his best finish of the year on the Web,com Tour – a share of 8th at the Rex Hospital Open, and an appearance at the United States Open Championship where he was the only Canadian to make the 36-hole cut.
Fritsch, 37, was the medalist at the Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament last December.
“I’m looking forward to playing an event in Canada again and in front of the home crowd,” says Fritsch. “I’ve never been to Nova Scotia and think the week is going to be exciting to play in not only the Nova Scotia Open but also the RBC Canada Cup. The team aspect in professional golf is very unique and you don’t get to see it every day. Playing alongside Mike, Graham and David will be fun and will be great for the fans.”
