It may be winter time back in her hometown of Smiths Falls, Ontario but that did not stop Brooke Henderson from posting yet another impressive golf tournament result.
The fourteen year-old was recently in Florida to play in the prestigious Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship which wrapped up on December 30th. The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Cables played host.
Henderson eventually finished third in the championship but contended to late into the back nine on the final day. Birdies on the 14th and 15th holes pushed her within reach of the lead but a missed two foot putt on the next hole coupled with a surge by the eventual winner, Hyo Joo Kim of Korea, left her trailing by three strokes at the finish.
Henderson finished the four rounds at even par, 284 with daily totals of 73, 71, 69, and 71, respectively.
Past winners of the Junior Orange Bowl include LPGA players Maude-Aimee Leblanc (Canada), Lexi Thompson, Christina Kim, Cristie Kerr, and Grace Park, to name just a few.
Currently Brooke is finishing up her school holidays with a little more golf. As a member of the Team Canada Development Squad she is currently in Phoenix, Arizona training with the team. She is also joined there by another Eastern Ontario golfer, Augusta James of Bath, Ontario, who is a member of the National Team.
