The 19 year-old from Smiths Falls is just one stroke off the lead at the Reignwood LPGA Classic in Nankou, Beijing, China.
The Canadian was blemish free in her opening round, posting a bogey free 66 that was highlighted 7 birdies on the par 73 host course.
She only trails one very familiar face, Ariya Jutanugarn, who opened with a 65.
The other Canadians in the field, Maude-Aimee Leblanc and Alena Sharp, shot 72 and 74, respectively.
Leblanc shares 28th while Sharp is tied for 49th.
