After a break where she did not play the LPGA event in Japan, Brooke Henderson returns to the LPGA this week for the Citibanamex Lorena Ochoa Invitational Presented by AeroMexico and Delta.
Henderson, who already has two wins in 2016, is guaranteed at least a top 36 finish; that’s how many players are in the limited field event. She is the only Canadian playing this event; Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Quebec is an alternate.
After a tie for 63rd in her last event in Malaysia, Henderson will be looking for a strong comeback. In taking only her second tournament off this season, she dropped to 7th place in the Rolex World Rankings.
Henderson, still just 19 years of age, is currently third on the LPGA Tour money list for 2016 with $1,694,418 in earnings. She has a LPGA-leading 15 top-ten finishes so far this season.
This is a first appearance for Henderson in the tournament. Her Canadian Olympic teammate, Alena Sharp, tied for 29th in 2015.
72 holes of play begin on Thursday with the final round scheduled to wrap up on Sunday.
