The meteoric streak of Casey Ward has ended at the United States Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

After taking medalist honours in stroke play and then winning her first match in the round of 64, hopes were high for the 25 year-old from Picton, Ontario.  It was not to be however as the 2015 Ontario Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion was derailed by countrywomen Christina Proteau of British Columbia in the round of 32 by a score of 3&1.

Proteau would win her subsequent afternoon match and is on to the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

The only other Canadian in the field at Squire Creek Country Club in Louisiana, Shelly Stouffer, was also eliminated in the round of 32.
