Golf Québec has announced that Club Laval-sur-le-Lac will host the 10th edition of their Fundraiser Tournament for Junior Golf this coming October 3rd. Two very high profile members of the club, Pierre Pomerleau and Vincent Damphousse, will be Honorary Co-Presidents of the event.

Supporting various junior golf initiatives including Golf in Schools, Golfmobile, CN Future Links, First Drive, She Swings, She Scores, and the Junior Golf Development Centres, the theme for this year’s fundraiser will be “From School to the Golf Club”.

The emphasis, of course, is to increase the participation of children in golf.

Pomerleau and Damphousse were chosen to be involved as beacons of the community in their areas of accomplishment and also as active advocates for sports participation by children.

Pierre Pomerleau is the President and Chief Executive of Pomerleau, a leading Québec construction company. NHL veteran Vincent Damphousse was a popular member of the Montreal Canadiens. His career began with Toronto and Edmonton, but it was as a member of the Habs that the Ville d’Anjou native enjoyed the best years of his career, when he won a Stanley Cup in 1993 and was the team captain from 1996 to 1999. He currently lives in Montréal and served as a hockey analyst at RDS. He is a co-owner of the Scandinave spa group.

The Golf Québec Fundraiser Tournament is part of a provincial campaign aiming to raise the required moneys to pursue our golf development initiatives specifically designed for children and families.

With the help of numerous participants, donors, and partners, over $552,000 was collected through the first nine editions of this key fundraiser.

Golf Québec representatives say they are proud to team up with Club Laval-sur-le-Lac, and more specifically with Pierre Pomerleau and Vincent Damphousse. “Our Honorary Co-Presidents enthusiastically stepped up to Golf Québec’s challenge. They truly believe in developing golf participation. As they contributed to making a difference through their personal involvement with other charitable causes, they also want to leave a heritage to our sport by promoting the presence of children on our courses”, explained Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec.
