One of the funniest men in golf will be bringing his sharp sense of humour to Ontario this summer.
Former professional golfer and now television commentator, host, and author David Feherty will make appearances in Ottawa, Sudbury, and Mississauga this July.
In 2014, Feherty decided to take his act on the road and travel across North America for his new live show – Feherty Off Tour – Wandering Around On His Own.
The former player on the European Tour and PGA TOUR has become a household name to golfers worldwide even more due to his work as a writer and broadcaster with CBS Sports and Golf Channel.
Tickets for his shows went on pre-sale today, March 26th, and Feherty himself was gracious enough to chat with Flagstick.com today about the upcoming tour.
Feherty says when he brought the tour to Canada last time he was more than pleased with the reaction. “It’s been great. The first time I did it was last year, the one man show. I picked Canada deliberately because people have a friggin’ sense of humour. Canada has such a great tradition of comedy, ” he says, referencing both the Montreal and Toronto comedy festivals. “I’m not sure what it is but there’s definitely a similarity between the attitude there (Canada) and where I come from, in Northern Ireland.”
The former Ryder Cup players conveys that his live show offers something for him as well. “As much as I enjoy my job, it’s not intellectually stimulating, shall we say. I didn’t realize you could have this kind of a relationship with an audience until I did this. It’s really been an interesting experience.”
Asked whether he finds the chance to share his life with thousands of people a kind of therapy for the man who has struggled with alcohol and depression, Feherty, true to form, did not pull any punches. “Yeah, you could call it therapeutic, although it was pretty $%^&#* terrifying. My preparation for these events is four or five days of panicking but when the bell rings I always feel much more comfortable.”
