Many Canadians will be glued to their televisions on Sunday with Graham DeLaet in the mix at the Northern Trust Open.
The Weyburn, Saskatchewan is two strokes off the lead held by Retief Goosen.
Goosen is 8 under par and in search of his eighth career PGA TOUR win, His last victory was at the 2009 Valspar Championship. This is his 104th start on the PGA TOUR since that win.
This marks the 10th time of Goosen being in the lead/co-lead after 54 holes. He went on to win from that position four times before, most recently at the 2004 U.S. Open.
DeLaet is chasing his first PGA TOUR Victory. Nine players have made the Northern Trust Open their first PGA TOUR win including Victor Ghezzi (1935), Johnny Bulla (1941), Fred Wampler (1954), Phil Rodgers (1962), TC Chen (1987), Chip Beck (1988), Kirk Triplett (2000), Len Mattiace (2002), John Merrick (2013).
The only other Canadian to win in the 89-year history of this tournament was Mike Weir who won back to back titles in 2003 and 2004.
DeLaet is looking to join Nick Taylor as a Canadian winner on tour in this wrap-around season. Taylor, a rookie, won the 2014 Sanderson Farms Championship.
DeLaet is making his fourth start in the Northern Trust Open this week, with a T21 in 2013 as his best showing.
