Days after she completed four rounds at the Ricoh British Open and picked up another (USD) $7,398 in earnings word should come today of an extra start on the LPGA Tour for Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario.
As part of the qualification process for the 5th major championship of the year, the Evian Championship, any player within the Top 40 of the Rolex World Rankings as of August 4th who is not already qualified will be invited to the championship.
Henderson, 17, maintained her 32nd place in the rankings when they were released in Monday, which should assure her an invite into the Evian Championship field. It will be played on September 10-13th in Évian-les-Bains, France.
Henderson finished play at the Ricoh British Women’s Open in a share of 61st place. Her winnings there bring her LPGA earnings for 2015 to $466,264 in 9 events played. If she were a member of the LPGA Tour she would currently be in the 20th position on their money list. If she can earn the equivalent of the 40th player on that money list by year’s end she will earn LPGA Tour status for 2016.
Already in the field for the upcoming CP (Canadian) Women’s Open , the Evian Championship completes Henderson’s guaranteed LPGA Tour schedule. If she wants to add to it she will need to do it through Monday qualifying for events.
