The 2016 professional campaign for eastern Ontario pro Brad Fritsch is underway.

Fritsch, originally from Manotick, ON. but now playing out of Holly Springs, North Carolina, was in action this past week at the Web.com Tour Panama Claro Championship.

Things looked promising early for the 38 year-old who was 39th on the TOUR’s money list in 2015. He opened with a 66 and a 70 at the Panama Golf Club and was within the top ten headed to the final 36 holes. His tournament was derailed by a third round 77. A final round 70, including a tap-in birdie on 18, left him in a share of 56th place overall.

Also finishing on that mark was Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas, Ontario and Ryan Yip of Calgary, Alberta.

Roger Sloan of British Columbia tied for 68th while Nova Scotia-connected Austin Connelly shared 73rd.

The top Canadian was Adam Svensson of British Columbia in a share of 14th place.

On tap this week for Fritsch is the Web.com Tour Club Colombia Championship presented by Claro in Bogota, Colombia. There are eight Canadians in the field including Fritsch, Albin Choi, Mackenzie Hughes, Taylor Pendrith, Jamie Sadlowski, Ben Silverman, Adam Svensson, and Ryan Yip. Roger Sloan is currently the first alternate.
