It’s a big Sunday in golf, and in more ways than one.
While Jordan Spieth attempts to hang on and earn a second consecutive Masters victory, other professionals are trying to win a Web.com tour event. To do so will almost assure them of a place in the top 25 on the year-end money list and a spot on the 2016 PGA TOUR.
The big tour is the target for all, especially for a guy like Brad Fritsch who has been there before.
He’ll have an opportunity on Sunday at TPC Cartagena in Colombia.
The Manotick, Ontario-raised pro was the overnight leader after 36 holes at the Servientraga Championship Presented By Efecty, and trails by just a stroke with one round left on the schedule for Sunday.
Ken Tway, the son of former PGA Championship winner Bob Tway, leads the way at -11 while Fritsch added a 3rd round 70 on Saturday to reach -10.
The Canadian used three birdies and an eagle to overcome three bogies on Saturday. His up and down birdie on the final hole assured him a spot in the final pairing on Sunday.
He is hoping to get things early in the final round.
“Just try and get off to a real good start,” said Fritsch, to Royce Thompson of the Web.com Tour. “The front nine is the easier nine when it’s windy and then you just try and survive on the back nine.”
