She gave it her best shot but fell just short.

Grace St-Germain of Orleans, Ontario bowed out of the United States Girls’ Junior Championship on Thursday, losing a tough battle in the round of 16 matches. In a face-off with Yujeong Son of Korea, St-Germain lost out after two extra holes.

The 17 year-old reigning Ontario Amateur Champion and Camelot Golf & Country Club member was down very late in her match at The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. The only Canadian left remaining in the competition, she was one down headed to the 18th hole where she was able to tie the match and push it to extra stanzas.

Unfortunately Son would prevail two holes later.

Hye-Jin Choi, the 16 year-old Korean golfer who won the World Junior Girls Championship at the Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa last Fall, was the number one seed after stroke play. She remains the favourite with the field now down to eight players.
