Two of the top female golfers from Eastern Ontario were back in action this week for their respective colleges. Both participated in tournaments that ended on February 14th.
Brittany Henderson of Smiths Falls was in Florida to compete in the University of Central Florida’s UCF Challenge. It was the first event of the Spring Season for her Coastal Carolina team. Henderson had her best showing so far in her Junior year. She led the team by placing in a tie for 14th individually. She posted rounds of 71, 74, and 74 at the RedTail Course in Sorrento, Florida.
The story was a little different in Puerto Rico where Augusta James of Bath, Ontario, a freshman at North Carolina State University, matched her weakest performance yet in her short but already impressive collegiate career. James rattled off 81, 71, and 80 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic for a share of 38th place.
James finished in the same place at her very first collegiate event last Fall before going on to post two top five individual finishes. She is currently ranked 51st in the NCAA by the GolfWeek/Sagarin Rankings.
Both ladies have several more tournaments to play in their Spring Seasons; we’ll keep up to date on their results as the year progresses.
