He’s come a long way.

Highly regarded golf professional Henry Brunton, who grew up in Kemptville, Ontario, just south of Ottawa, is opening a new golf academy.  This one, though, is a long way from home.

Brunton, who formerly guided the Canadian National Golf Team as Head Coach, and operates Henry Brunton Golf out of Eagles Nest Golf Club in Vaughn, Ontario, is opening a new location in Irvine, California.

Recently named as a founding Instructor for the Golf Channel Academy, Brunton’s new location is located at the Strawberry Farms Golf Club.

“This will be a high performance academy for elite junior golfers, as well as the serious adult golfer who wants long-term coaching,” Brunton said of the location to be named the Irvine Golf Channel Academy.

Brunton will be featured in the Irvine programs and he will be joined by teaching professionals Blake Jirges and Gavin Witzer.

Since starting his career as a golf professional at the Rideau View Golf Club in Manotick, Ontario, Brunton has built a strong resume.   He was most recently named the 2014 Ben Kern Coach of the Year by the PGA of Canada.

A Master PGA of Canada professional, he was also the 2009 National Junior Leader of the Year and won a PGA of Canada Award in 2014 for Professional Development and Education.  The lone Canadian recognized as a US Kids Golf Master Kids Teacher, he is also the recipient of the 5-Star Professional Award, the PGA of Europe’s highest honour.

The Irvine Golf Channel Academy is schedule to open in early May.
