Nine hole golf courses are a staple of the marketplace in Canada. Many of these operations exist in small communities, providing the only outlet for the sport in the surrounding area. Many are also family run.

The latter is the case for Blue Heron Golf Club in Lanark, Ontario.

Now in their 7th season of ownership, wife and husband team Joan and Dennis Sobil have worked steadily to improve their product.  Whether it has been upgrades to the golf course, the clubhouse, or the offerings of leagues, programs, and social events, they just keep striving to make their nine hole course in cottage country better each year.

Joan Sobil recently sat down with Flagstick.com at the Ottawa-Gatineau Golf Expo to discuss their property, programs, charity work, and plans for 2016.
