Matt McQuillan of Kingston finished up in 3rd place yesterday at the Hooters Tour Carolina Series event in Calabash, North Carolina.
The 28 year old struggled in the middle of the back nine of the 3rd and final round to eventually post 71 and reach four under par for the three day tournament. That left him six strokes back of the winner, Brian Duncan, and just one stroke back of Yoshio Yanamoto.
It looked like McQuillan would finish 2nd in the tournament but Yanamoto posted an eagle on the very last hole, a unique one in that it is a par-six.
For the 3rd place McQuillan picked up $1,400.
He now will move on to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina to play in the eGolf Tour opening event of the season on February 17-20. The Plametto Hall Championship has a strong field and is expected to have an estimated 1st place prize of (USD) $35,000.
