More Honours For Brooke Henderson

Brooke Henderson, the much heralded golf talent from Smiths Falls, Ontario, has another honour to put on her resume.

It was announced April 22nd that the 17 year-old pro golfer and former #1 amateur in the world has been named as the Syl Apps Ontario Athlete of the Year by the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame (OSHOF).

Henderson will receive her award on September 24th, along with other award winners and those being inducted, during a ceremony in Toronto.  It is the 20th annual induction ceremony for the organization.

The Syl Apps Award was first presented in 1998.  It was named in the honour of the former Toronto Maple Leafs’ captain and Olympic and Commonwealth Games pole vaulter Syl Apps.

The award is voted on by a distinguished panel of veteran sports writers, broadcasters/personalities, members of the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors and the Hall’s Advisory Board.
