On The Tours – Big & Small

The PGA Tour’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions wrapped up Monday night.  It proved to be the 11th PGA Tour victory for Zach Johnson, outplaying Jordan Spieth by a single stroke.

It was strong showing for players using Titleist golf equipment as four of the top five players (Johnson, Spieth, Simpson, and Dufner) are all product ambassadors for the company.  Johnson, Spieth and Dufner all utilize the company’s AP2 irons.

Through the first 7 events of the 2013/2014 wraparound season the Titleist PRO V1 ball has been used in six of the wins.

As was mentioned on the Editor’s Desk Blog yesterday, there are three Canadians in the field for the Sony Open in Hawaii this week. That includes Manotick, Ontario’s Brad Fritsch.  Joining him in Hawaii are David Hearn and Mike Weir.

Two other Canadians tried tried to qualify for the fuel but fault to do so.  Corey Renfrew shot 69 while Stuart Anderson turned in a 75.  A 65 and three 66’s earned the Monday Qualifying spots.

PGA of Ottawa Zone member Marc Rouse is in south Florida and teeing it up in a one day mini-tour event on Tuesday.  The Royal Ottawa Golf Club Assistant Professional is playing on the Gunslinger.com Tour at the Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida. He had a 7:54 a.m. tee time in a 46 player field.  Live scoring will be available at this link.
