It’s Ottawa; you can’t fight the weather. That doesn’t mean golfers have to give up on their chosen sport though. It’s exactly what the Superdome Sports Centre (Gloucester) and Superdome at Ben Frankin Park (Nepean) are counting on as the two facilities begin welcoming back golfers on Monday, December 15th.
From then until March 27th the domes will be available during certain hours for both practice and lessons. Golfers can swat real golf balls up to 85 yards downrange, from more than 20 hitting stations, from 9 a.m. until 4.p.m. each weekday.
“We are looking forward to another great season at both of our indoor practice centres and welcoming returning and new golfers,” said vice president of golf operations for TMSI (which runs both recreation centres) Rob Knights. “Ben Franklin Park and the Superdome Sports Centre are the only indoor facilities in the Ottawa area where golfers can just come out and hit golf balls.”
That enthusiasm to see golfing customers return is shared by General Manager Tara How. “I am very excited to open our doors for another fantastic season of indoor golf at both of our Superdome locations. I’m looking forward to seeing all our returning golfers and to meeting new ones.”
For those visiting the Ben Franklin Superdome who find that their skills are a little on the dull side, TMSI is once again welcoming back PGA of Canada Class A Professional Kevin Haime. The 2000 PGA of Canada Teacher of the Year will complement the dome with the presence of himself and his staff from the Kevin Haime Golf School.
Haime and his team will be offering numerous specials for seasoned golfers, and those just starting the game as well. “Give Golf A Try” clinics begin in January, while individuals looking to take their game to the next level can run through a practice skills test on a FlightScope launch monitor each “FlightScope Friday.”
“We are thrilled to be offering a complete program of golf lessons, clinics, club fittings and FlightScope launch sessions at the Ben Franklin Superdome again this year. In my opinion, the Ben Franklin Superdome is the best place to learn and improve your golf in the winter,” said Haime.
