Over three days at the Gatineau Golf Club in Gatineau, junior golfers from Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA) Member Clubs first qualified for and then participated in their annual match play championships.
Six junior champions were ultimately decided in various age groupings.
In the Junior Girls Group, Mississippi’s Chloe Wilson, who was also the winner in the Junior Girl’s City & District Championship, defeated Rivermead’s Vivian Sasova. In the Juvenile Girls Championship, Haley Yerxa from The Meadows Golf Club was a repeat winner over Royal Ottawa’s Megan MacGregor.
Cameron Bastodkar from the Rideau View Golf Club took home the Pee Wee Championship Trophy with his win over Hylands Cameron Elliot. Cornwall’s Brayden Valiquette defeated Whitetail’s Jack Quinn in the Bantam Championship. Camelot Golf & Country Club team-mates Alexandre Lefebvre and Quinn Arial went head to head in the Juvenile Division with Alexandre ending up with the victory. Royal Ottawa’s Brendan Huffner defeated Camelot’s Nicholas Workun in the Junior Division taking home the trophy for the second year in a row.
Congratulations to all the participants for their efforts during the championship as well as to their parents who provided support and taxi service. Kudos as well to the OVGA team of officials for running another well organized championship for OVGA Junior Golfers.
