It’s a habit Brooke Henderson does not seem to want to break. Nor should she.
At the end of play in her last seven golf tournaments around the world (six of those on the LPGA) she has occupied a spot in the top ten finishers. And it’s not been always been easy.
Last week the 18 year-old from Smiths Falls jumped from a share of 30th all the way to a piece of 10th on the final day at the LPGA Kia Classic.
She faced a similar scenario on Sunday as she entered the final eighteen at the LPGA’s first major of the season, the ANA Inspiration, in a share of 33rd.
As she has done so frequently of late, she was undeterred and roared up the leaderboard with a late charge that again brought her into a share of tenth. Birdies on the 11th, 12th, 14th, and 18th holes in Rancho Mirage propelled her to a closing 67 (-5) and a -7 total for the week.
Her 281 (73, 69, 72, 69) total padded her LPGA earnings by another $48,155 and brought her 2016 LPGA tally to $342,888.
She is projected to remain in 6th place in the Race To CME Globe.
Hamilton’s Alena Sharp has a tough Sunday; her rounds 70, 74, 69, 78 earned her a share of 56th place.
Lydia Ko earned her 12th LPGA title with the victory and her second major championship.
