Last year at the Fucillo Kia Championship at Capital Hills, Augusta James finished in a tie for 2nd. This year she is proving it was no fluke as she once again is playing well in Albany, New York.

James, of Bath, Ontario, showed her comfort level with Capital Hills on Saturday as she added a 65 (-6) to her total in the Symetra Tour event. Starting the day in 46th place after an opening 72 (+1) she moved all the way up to a share of 3rd with a round that included 6 pars and no bogies.

Currently in 9th place on the year-long Volvik Race for the Card money list, a top finish in the final round on Sunday would go a long way to keeping her in that top bracket of players.

Also joining James in the share of 3rd with one round to play is her good friend and former college team-mate, Brittany Marchand of Mono, Ontario. Marchand, who won the Ontario Women’s Amateur at James’ home course of Loyalist CC in 2012, has scores of 70 and 67 so far this week.

Both players are three strokes off the lead of American Jackie Stoetling.
