Marco China, an Assistant in Training at St. George’s Golf & Country Club in Toronto, has been named as the 2017 winner of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA)/Toro Future Superintendent of The Year Award.
Recognizing a full-time student member of CGSA who is completing their graduating year in a CGSA recognized turf management program, the winner is chosen (after interviews) by a panel that consists of two representatives of the Toro Company, and a CGSA Past President.
China completed his Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management at the University of Guelph this past April and will receive his award at the The Canadian Golf Course Management Conference in Quebec City next February.
Stephen Fleischauer, Director, Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management at the University of Guelph nominated Marco for the award and noted that he was “One of our most proficient and accomplished students in the Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management program at the University of Guelph.” “He is passionate about turf management and strives to both learn and implement the many skills that will, ultimately, define him as a top superintendent”.
