At one point on Sunday there were three golfers from Ontario sharing 3rd place at the Symetra Tour’s Fuccillo Kia Championship at Albany Hills in upstate New York.
Unfortunately, by the end of the day only Brittany Marchand (Mono, Ontario) remained in the top ten while Augusta James and Jennifer Kirby had to settle for less.
James (Bath, Ontario) tied for 20th (72-65-73) while Kirby (Paris, Ontario) dropped into a share of 29th (68-70-74).
The trio were the top Canadians in the field.
For Marchand it was her first top ten of the year on the circuit, besting her previous top finish of a tie for 24th at the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial in Mid-April. The North Carolina state graduate, who turned pro in 2015, posted rounds of 70-67-70 for the week in Albany.
It is the 7th time in nine Symetra Tour starts this year that Augusta James (college team-mates with Marchand) has finished in the top 20. Her week in Albany was highlighted by a second round 65. She bookended it with rounds of 72 and 73.
The Symetra Tour now has a week off before they play the Four Winds Invitational in Indiana.
