Tanguay Out In Front at Carleton

Fresh off an appearance at the United State Public Links Championship, Anne Catherine Tanguay is off to an early lead at the Quebec Provincial Women’s Championship.

Tanguay, who attends school on a golf scholarship at the University of Oklahoma, shot one under par, 72, at Carleton Golf & Yacht Club (Manotick) in the opening round.  She leads by two strokes over Josee Doyon of Beauceville.

Tanguay is chasing her second championship.

Erika Godwin of the host club is the top player from the Ottawa Valley so far.  Her 79 has her in ninth place so far.

Play will continue Wednesday with the Senior golfers starting their first round.  The championship concludes on Thursday.
