Poor weather on Sunday shortened the Symetra Tour’s Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship in Battle Creek, Michigan to just 36 holes.
It was a mixed blessing for Augusta James of Bath, Ontario who did not get the opportunity to improve her position but she was rewarded for her strong play in the second round.
Her 65 on Saturday had boosted her all the way into a share of 3rd place, which proved to be her final positioning. She ended play at -8 (71-65). That was seven strokes back of winner Laura Gonzalez Escallon of Spain.
Her 4th top-ten finish of the season helped her jump from 13th place on the Volvik Order of Merit all the way to 9th.
The top ten players at the end of the season will earn status on the LPGA Tour for 2017.
