Two golf clubs affiliated with Ottawa-based sports management firm Thunderbird Management Services Inc. (TMSI) have announced new staff additions effectively immediately.
At the eQuinelle Golf Club in Kemptville James Paterson has been hired as their Food & Beverage Manager,
Most recently Paterson served as the Director of Golf at the Perth Golf Course.
“I’m really excited the opportunity to be involved at eQuinelle at this stage of its evolution, with the new clubhouse, resident club and Grill,” explained Paterson. “eQuinelle has an exciting new atmosphere, and I’m looking forward to making the eQ Grill a place for all to enjoy, whether it’s after golf or for a great meal in stunning environment.”
“eQuinelle is busy spot in the summer and we are also open to the public for events, parties and meetings throughout the winter months, in addition to servicing our active resident club member events,” he added.
Rob Knights, the vice-president of golf operations for TMSI, points to Paterson’s long experience in the golf industry as a key to the hire. Paterson’s resume includes stints in various roles at the 19th Tee driving range in Ottawa and the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Dunrobin.
“With eQuinelle’s state-of-the-art clubhouse now available for large, special events, it’s great to have an experienced leader like James at the helm of the Food and Beverage aspect of that facility,” said Rob Knights, vice-president of golf operations for TMSI.
With Paterson’s departure from the Perth Golf Course, an opening was created at the 125 year-old course that will be filled by veteran PGA of Canada Professional Chris Learmonth.
The 49 year-old becomes the Director of Golf and brings his quarter century of experience to help him in the position.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to work with TMSI at Perth next season and meeting all the members and other golfers who play there,” said Learmonth. “I feel after 25 years in the industry wearing a number of different hats, my experience and skill set is ideally suited to the operation at Perth.”
“I’m looking forward to providing members, their guests and the public with a wide selection of merchandise in the golf shop and the utmost in customer service,” he continued. “I also plan to plan to be involved in all club programs and providing a complete program of personal and group lessons.”
Most recently Learmonth was the Head Professional at the Deep River Golf Club and counts stints at Elm Ridge CC in Montreal, Glengarry Golf Club, and the Carleton Golf & Yacht Club within his experience.
As with Paterson at eQuinelle, Knights was please to add an industry veteran to their staff in Perth in Learmonth, a two-time PGA of Canada Ottawa Zone Player of the Year.
