It wasn’t the win he was looking for but it was a decent finish.

Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas, Ontario earned a tie for 6th place on Wednesday on the SwingThought.com Tour (known to many as the NGA Tour but under new sponsorship).

The former 2-time Canadian Amateur winner and PGA TOUR Canada Order of Merit winner turned in scores of 66, 70, and 70 at the Pine Classic at Diamondhead Country Club in Mississippi. His -10 total was 5 strokes off the winning score of American Wade Binfield.

It was another top finish for a Canadian on this tour that has been the proving ground for many top professionals.  Hughes’ fellow Ontarian, Albin Choi, won the last two consecutive events on the tour.

Alberta’s Wilson Bateman finished in a tie for 16th place in this week’s event.  He posted rounds of 69, 71, and 69.
