Wednesday Notes – Golf Expo, Pros, And Cape Breton

Just a few items coming across our desk…

-The Ottawa Gatineau Golf Expo will have some special guests for the March 10/11 show at Ottawa’s CE Centre. Flagstick Golf Magazine is sponsoring the appearance of 7-time Canadian Women’s Long-Drive Champ Lisa ‘Longball” Vlooswyk. Lisa will be on hand in the Flagstick booth area as well as presenting seminars each day on the stage. The topic, of course, “How to hit it longer”. For the record, Lisa was the first women to hit a ball over 350 yards in the World Long Drive Championships.

-Also appearing at the show, in support of GolfNow and DealCaddy, will be Golf Channel host Lauren Thompson. Thompson is making a return trip to Ottawa after having filmed a segment for the GolfNow show in the National Capital Region last summer.

-The PineView Municipal Golf Club in Ottawa is close to announcing the name of their new Head Professional. Although we are aware of who they have selected we are waiting for all the particulars of the contract to be finalized out of respect for the process.

-Just in case you needed another reason to travel east to Cape Breton this summer to play the new Cabot Links here is one more. It turns our project visionary Ben Cowan-Dewar actually grew up in Eastern Ontario. Raised in Camden East, just west of Kingston, Cowan-Dewar attended Frontenac Secondary School.
