Tiger’s Ripple – From Tiger To Rory

It’s an ad, for sure.  But it’s also a statement.  A commentary on the passing of the torch and how one athlete’s great feats inspires another to try for the same. Or better.

The latest Nike Golf marketing piece involving Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods further illustrates McIlroy’s tie to the brand and how his signing with them two years ago was really about more than money.

It’s what I wrote here at the time, and I stand by today.  He even supported what I mentioned in that column when we sat down to talk later that Fall.

Whatever the the situation, ultimately it’s a great piece of work.  If you’re a fan of golf who grew up being inspired by heroes, it’s sure to give you a few chills.
