Two months after they brought the original HYPERFLEX shoe to market, FootJoy is expanding the line to include models with the Boa Enclosure system.

The HYPERFLEX, which has already gained traction on TOUR with players like Canadian Graham DeLaet, features multiple materials to enhance comfort and increase stability, with unique styling.  The design includes what the company calls a “FlexGrid” exoskeleton that surrounds the soft forefoot area for extra support.

Golfers looking for an even greater bond between shoe and foot will be interested in the HYPERFLEX shoes with Boa, which replaces laces with a high tensile strength wire system that FootJoy has made available in shoe models dating back to 2004.

“When we first learned of this new alternative system to laces, it didn’t take long to realize there were many similarities between the brands that have, years later, resulted in a long-standing, successful relationship,” said Doug Robinson, FootJoy Vice-President. “The Boa Closure System, like the FJ line of golf shoes, has undergone significant improvements since the first collaborative product was introduced and now, with HYPERFLEX, we’re excited to marry their most advanced system with our latest performance product.”

In the process of exploring the use of the Boa system for golf shoes, FootJoy experimented with a number of locations for the dial.  They determined the heel location “pulled” the foot back into the heel while not creating extra pressure points (as you often find with normal laces), as they say they noted in a tongue location.  As a result they sought and received an exclusive period of time for use of Boa in the heel location.

“As you engage the system, the Boa Dial pulls the stainless steel laces evenly through the nylon guides on the top of the shoe and back through the collar, gradually guiding the foot down and back into the heel pocket as the collar surrounds the ankle for a secure, consistent and comfortable fit”, says the company.

For those who have issues with traditional laces loosening during a round, they are a perfect solution.

PGA TOUR player Charley Hoffman adds, “Once you tighten them up in the locker room, you don’t have to worry about them the rest of the day.”

Three colour-ways of the HYPERFLEX with Boa will be available in Canada as of April 15th. The stock models will include: Grey/orange and Black/Red while the White/grey/blue version is available by special order.
