There is a big shift taking place in the aftermarket golf shaft business. We have have confirmed that long-time industry leader True Temper has looked to the north to help them grow their business.
They have collaborated with Canadian-based Premium Golf Management Corporation (PGMC) of Kingston, Ontario to create a new entity being called True Temper Plus.
PGMC, the makers of the successful ACCRA golf shaft brand, previously worked closely with steel shaft maker KBS but has curtailed that relationship in favour of a multi-faceted deal with True Temper.
The crux of the deal is the fact True Temper has recognized a growing business within their Performance Fitting Centres (PFC) – what they describe as “an elite network of certified professionals who provide excellence in golf retail and custom club fitting.”
PFC accounts sell the full True Temper line but also have access to exclusive products.
Many of accounts within the PFC program already deal with PGMC for ACCRA golf shafts and other products.
It would appear True Temper was attracted to PGMC and their established relationship with some 500+ clubfitting accounts worldwide.
The newly created True Temper Plus will operate from PGMC’s Kingston, Ontario headquarters where they will be expanding operations to accommodate the new venture. We have been told they are in the process of adding 3500 square feet of warehouse space and hiring four staff members in their customer service and shipping departments.
True Temper Plus will be coordinating all aftermarket sales for True Temper in North America and Europe for all their golf shaft products.
As part of the True Temper Plus program the parties will also be collaborating on new products. There are indications that it may include a revival of the Rifle brand as a line for clubfitters.
Flagstick.com staff will be attending an outing with the team from PGMC/ACCRA on Monday and we’ll and confirm any more details.
