Each year The Champions Tour visits the gulf coast of Mississippi. When they do it is the Fallen Oak Golf Club that plays host.
An amenity of the Beau Rivage Casino, guests of the casino can get access to the Tom Fazio designed layout. Those with an interest in golf make it a priority.
While the course only entertains about 11,000 rounds a year, those who take of advantage of the opportunity are usually left wanting more.
Flagstick.com first visited the Biloxi area course (it is located about 25 minutes north of town near the Desoto National Forest) in 2007 and our recent return only confirmed our original thoughts – that Fallen Oak is one of the best layouts on the Gulf Coast.
While the region is topographically challenged, Fazio and his team managed to shape a course that rolls up and down the land over nearly 7,500 yards with more than enough elements to maintain your interest.
With so few rounds played the turf conditions, as expected, are outstanding. Add to that a lack of a weak hole and service that goes beyond even what you might find at a high-end private club (each golfer has a locker customized with their name for starters) and you have a golf course that is not to be ignored if you happen to be in the area.
