Three players have been added to the field to Ottawa’s Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada event.
Lee Curry, Devin Carrey and Josh Goheen will be teeing it up at this year’s National Capital Open to Support Our Troops presented by Lockheed Martin and the CAA North & East Ontario.
Curry is a PGA of Canada staff member at Rideau View Golf Club and a former member of the Web.com tour member. He is also the reigning 2014 champion of the Flagstick.com Players Tour Ottawa Zone Championship (see trophy photo) and this past weekend won the prestigious Sani Marc Canada Cup in Quebec.
Langley, British Columbia’s Devin Carrey used a final round 64 to tie for 5th place at last year’s Mackenzie Tour event in Ottawa. He is represented by Ottawa-based Bytown Sports Consulting and principal agent Stephen Fritsch.
The youngest member of the exemption trio is current Rideau View Golf Club Champion Josh Goheen. Goheen is also a third year student and member of the golf team at Campbell University in North Carolina. He shot 71 and won a playoff at a limited field local qualifier for a single exemption into the Mackenzie Tour event.
Doug Langton, Tournament Director for the National Capital Open to Support Our Troops said, “It is a great pleasure to announce the first of our six sponsor exemptions. These three individuals, all of whom have local connections, are most deserving of this opportunity. I look forward to announcing the final three exemptions next week.”
Official tournament play for this year’s National Capital Open to Support Our Troops begins with the first round, Thursday, August 20th at Hylands Golf Club, 2101 Alert Road, Ottawa.
