If you were hoping to join the field of the 2022 Flagstick Open Amateur Championship, you’ll have to settle for the waiting list, for now.
Just over a week ago it was announced that registration was available for the 10th edition of the tournament presented by TaylorMade Golf Canada and adidas Canada. It took less than five days for the 120 spots in the field to be claimed.
“The response to the tournament was fantastic once again,” noted Flagstick Golf Magazine President and Founder, Jeff Bauder, also the Tournament Director. “With great partners like TaylorMade and adidas and the high quality venue of eQuinelle, this event has grown stronger each year. We delighted to return to our traditional May long weekend date and we are also glad to see players signed up from as far away as Northern Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Michigan. It promises to be another great weekend with a competitive field.”
Among those set to compete on May 21/22 in Kemptville, Ontario is defending champion Brennan Smith. He prevailed in 2021 with a 36-hole score of -7 (67-70), one better than Robert Mustard, who was attempting to earn the title for a record 3rd time after being victorious in 2018 and 2020. The only other two-time winner in the history of the event in Noah Steele (2016/2017), now a tournament winner on the PGA TOUR Canada.
While the field is full, golfer are still encouraged to join the wait list, as there are often cancellations. Players can register at this link.
Players can also expect more news soon about registration for another Flagstick event, the Two-Ball Championship, set to take place in early September at Brockville Country Club.
