3 Man Scramble A Success At Whitetail

The weather was great at Whitetail Golf Club for the 8th Annual 3-Man Scramble 2 day event which was held on Sept. 18th and 19th.

36 teams participated in the event with teams being split into 3 fields after Saturdays round.  Top 12 teams were seeded into the A’ Flight, the next 12 teams being placed in the B’ Flight and the remaining teams going to the C’ Flight.

The competition was extremely close after day one in all 3 fields.    A playoff on the 18th hole determined the winner of the A’ Flight division.  2 teams were tied after 36 holes of play with scores of 124 and the gallery got to watch the teams of Craig Domville, Andy Rajhathy, and Kick Butler compete against Peter Gilder, Tom Watts, and Brandon Byrd.

The first playoff round, both teams birdied the reachable 18th hole and they were sent back to the tee for round 2.  This time the team of Gilder, Watts, and Byrd birdied while Domville, Rajhathy, and Butler lipped out to make a par.

Derek MacDonald, CPGA Professional at Whitetail Golf Club, said this was one of the best tournaments to date.  The tournament is getting bigger and bigger every year and the competition is getting tougher.  Next year he is going to open the field up to 42 teams to compete in this great event.

MacDonald wanted to pass on thanks to all the volunteers that helped organize the tournament, and their superintendent, John Cameron, for making the golf course in immaculate shape, and the all the amateur players and Professionals that participated in the event.
