He already has one win on the Tour this year and Toronto’s Albin Choi is working hard on another.

The former NC State golfer posted an opening round of 65 on Wednesday and leads the way at the Diamondhead Country Club’s Cardinal course in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Choi’s seven under par round was marked by eight birdies including a stretch on the back nine of the Earl Stone design where he made five in a span of six holes.

He holds a one stroke lead on a field where 10 Canadians were competing but the number is now one less due to a withdrawal by B.C.’s Riley Wheeldon.

Choi’s fellow Torontonian, Lucas Kim, shot 67 is tied for 6th place.
