Torontonian Andrew Ledger stepped on the gas and did not look back on his way to the title at the Toronto Players Tour Eastern Ontario Open.
Contested at the Loyalist Country Club in Bath, Ontario on August 3/4, Ledger began the second and final round just one stroke back of the overnight leader, Stephen Gonko.
While the leader struggled (adding a 78 to his opening 67) it was Ledger, a former baseball standout, that took full advantage. By the turn on the final day he had posted three birdies against no bogies and was two clear of his nearest rivals. He added three more birdies on the closing nine to be sure the the title was not in doubt.
Ending the day with a 65 (-6) that gave Ledger a -9 total overall and earned him the trophy and first place money of $4,500.
Finishing in a share of second at -6 were Sebastian Szirmak and Max Sekulic. each picked up $1,800 for their efforts.
The top finisher from Eastern Ontario was rookie pro Ty Celone of Long Sault in a share of 6th place.
