The first event in the GolfQuebec Jocelyne Bourassa Series wrapped up on Wednesday, May 22nd at Royal Bromont.
The 4th edition of the NIVO Women’s Players’ Cup saw Elyse Archambault of Pinegrove Golf Club prevail.
After the first eighteen holes in the amateur division all golfers were chasing Josée Doyon of Beauceville who opened with a score of 69 that included an ace on the 7th hole.
Trailing by three strokes Archambault, a student at Penn State University, threw her best at Doyon with a five birdie round marred only by a double bogey for a three under par, 69. Doyon struggled out of the gate and her lead was lost by the 6th hole. Ultimately she shot 76 to earn second place.
“Today, I showed up to play feeling slightly aggressive, and it was fruitful”, explained Archambault.
In the senior division Marie-Thérèse Torti of La Vallée du Richelieu led from start to finish and her rounds of 75 and 76 gave her a five stroke cushion over defending champion Teri De Luis of Casselview.
“In each tournament, I aim for the victory, but this is never easy. These are very good golfers and they are also friends. This makes every competition quite interesting”, mentioned the 2013 senior champion.
The next event of the Jocelyne Bourassa Series, the NIVO Debbie Savoy Morel Cup, will take place at Club de golf Ki-8-Eb on June 18 and 19, 2013. The Series will be conclude with the NIVO Women’s Provincial Amateur and Senior Championship to be presented from July 2 to 4, 2013, at the Carleton Golf Club.
