It’s the best time of the year if you are a golf equipment geek like myself. Manufacturers are slowly introducing new products that appeared for testing on the pro tours throughout the summer. Titleist, Nike Golf, Callaway, TaylorMade – all companies that have flooded my inbox in the last week or so.
In Canada equipment company representatives are busy booking orders for the 2011 season so that means they have samples in hand of most of their new products – which means the interested media also get a chance for a closer inspection fo the goods.
Due to industry relationships and for us, an affiliation with websites like golfwrx.com we have been privy to the existence of many of these products for some time but seeing photos or the chance to examine them in tour equipment trucks is a long way from actual product testings.
Over the next week I have plans to reveal a few more details on some of this new product that will soon hit the shelves around the world.
I also have a number of other equipment-related stories planned for this Blog this Fall.
Later today I will be off to a shaft manufacturer’s laboratory to check out some of their new prototypes as well as having a chat with one Ottawa area touring pro, Andrew Jensen, who is working to optimize his equipment as he prepares to play the Hooters Tour this winter.
It’s fascinating to see what levels golf equipment have achieved in the last couple of decades and how players are able to ensure that they have the exact products that will help them get the most out of their games.
The best part is this kind of custom fitting is now available for most amateurs as well; the realization of all the hopes this equipment junkie ever had.
